On the nose: from the first impression, intense aromas of red and black fruits such as black cherry, raspberry and blackcurrant unfold, accompanied by a subtle floral hint of violet. As the wine opens in the glass, a remarkably fresh menthol note emerges, a distinctive signature of fully ripe Syrah wines.


On the palate: this wine is beautifully juicy, with the same red and dark fruit flavours complemented by spices. It shows excellent acidity and roundness, with fine, supple tannins that are already well integrated. A refined and elegant wine with a vibrant freshness. The finish is long, with a refreshing aftertaste lasting at least 7–8 seconds.
This wine is ready to drink now but can certainly be cellared for a further 3 to 7 years.


Food & wine pairing: this wine is the ideal companion to stews, game birds, meats and grilled vegetables. Serve it with a rich couscous. Adding a touch of balsamic or honey to your dishes will enhance its depth. To finish, it is a true pleasure to enjoy this wine with a fine piece of dark chocolate.


Atmosphere: a wine that warms you from within on cool evenings by the fire.


Personal anecdote: the idea and the recipe for this Syrah des Fous come from our predecessor, Michel Louison. He was rightly known as the “pope of Syrah” and was widely recognised for it. We are proud to carry on Michel’s legacy.
